Denzel Washington is pretty good as the male lead in Flight.
While I know very little about how or why an actor wins an Academy Award, I figure Paramount Pictures will fund a substantial marketing campaign to help get Denzel nominated for this year’s Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.
If that campaign is successful, there’s something you should know about Flight. Something that could matter to you were you the type to place a wager on who wins what when the stars converge on Hollywood and Highland in February.
Flight, you should know, shares something in common with Training Day, the last film Denzel won an Academy Award for. In both films, Mr. Washington shared a scene with a Latina actress who went full frontal nude. The Latina actress went full frontal nude, that is. Not Mr. Washington.
So, keep that in mind a couple months from now when the people who like to predict these kinds of things get to the business of predicting these kinds of things.
